Farmworkers are essential workers upon whom society depends for food, yet they are excluded from access to our social safety network.

Again this year The Abundant Table appeals to the community to donate to our  Solidarity Shares for Farmworkers program. We currently support 40 farmworker families with bi-weekly CSA boxes (boxes of 7-9 items of healthy, pesticide-free produce straight from our farm). We need your help to sustain and expand this program. 

Each 2022 Solidarity Share is $40 that provides one CSA box for a  farmworker family. Purchase one $40 Share (1 CSA box), two Shares at $80 (2 CSA boxes), multiple Shares throughout  the year, or an Annual Share at $960.

• A majority are undocumented migrants working in daily fear of deportation.
• Fieldworkers risk daily exposure to sun and cold, and toxic pesticides.
• Risk of COVID-19 greatly increases in close contact with others in fields and packing-houses.
• Employers may not provide adequate health care information and/or protection from disease.
• Housing is often substandard with multiple families in the same dwelling.
• School children suffer from inadequate learning environments and equipment.
• Many live in food deserts with limited access to fresh vegetables and fruits.
• A non-indigenous diet high in fat, cholesterol, and sugar, and low in fresh fruits and vegetables, contributes to lifelong chronic health conditions and affects the health and education of children.
• When the dignity and value of farmworkers are denied by the industrial exploitation of agriculture, the younger generation is repelled by the very land that feeds them.
